Wonderful wine. Nice, concentrated nose and dense, complex palate. Will age well for many years.
Vineyard Notes:
Blackwood Canyon's estate vineyard employs M. Taylor Moore's 'Eco-Agriculture' philosophy, which concentrates on balancing ecosystems rather than fighting them. Utilizing concepts such as integrated pest management and controlled irrigation, along with proper pruning techniques, this vineyard has not been sprayed with any chemical whatsoever in over fifteen years, which is more than most 'organic' vineyards can boast. More importantly, the vineyard yield is actively managed to less than three tons per acre using controlled vine stress to create quality, concentrated fruit, which results in excellent quality wines. At Blackwood Canyon, the wine really does begin in the vineyard.
